The need for creed…
“[T]he need for creed will have its way, even if the creed is to have no creed,” writes Curtis Freeman.
To make his point, he tells of a boy who was riding with a Catholic priest.
A sign in front of a building puzzled the young man:
Independent-Fundamentalist, Bible-Believing
Dispensational-Premillennial, Free-Will, Feet-Washing
Missionary Baptist Church
When pressed for an explanation, the priest replied with a mixture of wit and wisdom… “When you belong to a church that doesn’t believe in creeds, you have to fit a lot of doctrine on the sign.”
